12th Ashwell Book Weekend

Thank you to everyone who helped and supported the
Book weekend.
A special Thanks to Caroline Feast & Karen Rogers who organized the event. A total of £3348 was raised for the Restoration Fund.

Harvest Supper and Cabaret

We would like to thank everyone who performed and who attended the harvest festival supper in the church the other weekend.  £900 was raised for the Bishop's charity appeal for Cambodia and for the famine in East Africa.

'DESPERATE MEASURES' a local band covering classic Rock Anthems such as THIN LIZZY, QUEEN etc. All proceeds went to the Brazil 2011 Team, thank you all for your help and support and wasn't it great to hear some Rock Anthems in the Church!

Shrove Tuesday Supper with a twist. Rich Man / Poor Man Supper Thank you to all who took part and for all the Social Event Team for providing a fantastic meal (even for the Poor!). We raised just over £1000 towards the Brazil 2011 Mission.

Ashwell at Christmas

Thank you to everyone who made this year's Christmas Fair at St Mary's Church, Ashwell on 4th December such a success. The magnificent sum of almost £2,000 was raised for the Church Restoration Fund due entirely to the generosity and support of so many people. David & Beth Richards

Ashwell Book Weekend A very big THANK YOU to all the helpers especially Caroline Feast for organising the event - we raised a total of £3700 for the Restoration Fund!

ST.MARY'S CHURCH HARVEST SUPPER & 'BARN DANCE' Thank you to all the helpers and to everyone who supported this event we raised £630 for the Pakistan Floods Appeal and had great FUN on top of it.

ST.MARY'S CHURCH PATRONAL FESTIVAL PICNIC
Following the 10:45am Service there will be a "Bring your own Picnic" lunch, croquet and other games in the Church Garden (sorry NOT the Rectory Garden). Please bring your food, drink, plates, cutlery, rugs etc and come and join us.

Ashwell Music Festival THANK YOU! The Restoration Fund will be better off by nearly £8000, which is a great start for the next phase of Church repairs. A huge thank you is due to so many people who gave up their time to help, and to everyone who attended the concerts.

Held as always in the Bushel & Strike Pub. This years speakers were: Phillipa Shaw and David Whyman of the Worship Company of Glaziers and Glass Painters.

Thank you to Catherine Dunlop for overseeing the organisation of the concert and everyone who helped to make this wonderful event happening. We raised £320 towards the Church Restoration Fund.

This years Ashwell Book Weekend raised an amazing £3383 for the Church Restoration Fund. A big THANK YOU to Caroline Feast for organising the event and all the other helping hands who sort and price the books, selling and helping on the day, the great cookie bakers and all the others who help tidy the Church afterwards, not to forget all of you who donate the books.

Fundraising Lunch and Auction! This was a quite wonderful and happy event and thanks to Simon and Jenny for allowing us to use their wedding marquee. But it's thanks to a lot of others as well - providing food, serving, donating and buying that we raised close to £4900. This will be shared between St Mary's Restoration Fund and the local Relate branch. Many many thanks to so many people.

Harp Workshop! Workshop including a masterclass, technique,and ensemble playing. Run by Danielle Perrett and Anne Chorley. The cost is £8 (members of the Clarsach Society) / £10 (non-members) / under 16 free. All Standards welcome!

56th Ashwell Music Festival

Lent Course 2009
This years lent course covered the subject "Why we do what we do in Church". It was a deeper insight into Church traditions, we looked closely at Weddings, Baptism, symbols and signs and much more. It explained in more details the 'Eucharist' and the tradition behind it. The highlight of the lent course was the Agape meal, Agape meaning 'Love' in Greek and we celebrated an alternative Eucharist, which took the form of a joyful 3-course meal in our Church.

Flea Market, Claire Lewis organised another successful Flea market which raised £700 towards the Church Restoration Fund. Thank you to Claire and all who helped!

Patronal Festival-Bring and Share Lunch! To celebrate the anniversary of the birth of the Virgin Mary, some of us gathered after Church in the Rectory garden to share lunch together and to play croquet. Fortunately the sun shone and our spirits were high. Events like this are always popular, so do try to come next year.

55th - Ashwell Music Festival

ASHWELL AT HOME
On Sunday, 11th May Ashwell was blessed with warm, sunny weather. Visitors started flocking into Ashwell long before the opening time of noon and several made their way to the Parish Church Room for a cup of tea or coffee. Plenty of delicious homemade cakes were on offer and many helpers generously gave their time to serve teas, replenish teapots, wash up or take money. And, at the end of the day, more help was there to clear up and count the takings. The teas made the wonderful total of £488.35. An added bonus was that several of the helpers had not met before so new friends were made over the steaming urn or dirty dishes. Thanks to all those who gave their talents and time to make our contribution to Ashwell at Home such a success.
