Worship and Education
Members for 2008 / 2009:

The Action Group is responsible to work and discuss with the Priest-in-Charge, the Revd Dr Simon Chambers, worship at St Mary's Church. In addition the Group arranges facilities for the Lent Course
and other specific Sundays or weeks, eg Christian Aid.
The remit for services and other topics includes All Age worship, Lent and Advents groups, evening services, Intercession; Special services; Advertisements relating to services
and after two years a review of the service booklets.
In 2008/9 the remit will include reviewing the content of Baptism and Confirmation courses;
the consideration of Communion before Confirmation and the liturgical oversight of services and the
use of the Lectionary (CW).
The Lent course in 2008, comprised speakers from Christian Aid, the Church Missionary Society,
the work of a Prison Chaplain and of the Diocesan Missioner.
In May 2008 a member arranged a door-to-door collection for Christian Aid throughout the village
and raised a record of £1,656.
The group has successfully encouraged church members in the use of the Parish Prayer Diary and the Reflections for Daily Prayer published by Church House Publishing in 2008.
